Helen Anna Byram, 87, Sheldon, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Truman Healthcare and Rehab, Lamar, Mo. She was born Dec. 20, 1918, in Phenix, Mo., to Winford John Cook and Ethel Rosetta Silence Cook. She married Ray Murray in 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1941. Later she married Harry J. Byram on May 15, 1948, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1983.

Helen was born and reared in Phenix, Mo., and attended school there. She came to this area in the 1940s and lived the remainder of her life here. She was a homemaker and also had worked as an aide at Nevada Manor Nursing Home for several years, retiring in 1984. She was a longtime member of the Sheldon Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Jesse Murray, Strang, Okla., James Byram, Rich Hill, Mo., David Byram, Harry R. Byram, and Carl Byram, all of Sheldon, Mo., John Byram, Walker, Mo.; two daughters, Rose Mary Rice, Milford, Mo., Helen L. Byram, Lamar, Mo.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one brother, Johnnie Cook, Springfield, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, three brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 7, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Jim McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
