Thayne William McNeil

Thayne William McNeil of Bronaugh, Mo., passed away Feb. 13, 2006, in Nevada, Mo. He was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Pleasanton, Kan., the only child of Ferne Madge Griffith and Elmer Lloyd McNeil. He attended school in Pleasanton, and graduated from Mound City, Kan., in 1938. He loved being on the football team.

After graduation, he moved with his parents to Cody, Wyo., where he worked on their farm and raised cattle and had a dairy. He married Lea Lillian Wright at her parents home on Dec. 31, 1947 in Cody, Wyo.

In 1966, Thayne and his family and parents moved to Bronaugh, where they continued to have a farm and dairy. He always loved to farm and work with the livestock and was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. He was a 50-year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Cody.

He is survived by his wife Lea, and his three children; sons, William L. McNeil and Carry E. McNeil of Bronaugh; daughter, Thaylee McNeil of Nevada; four grandchildren, William Lee McNeil II of Windsor, Mo., Ashley Banes and her husband Brent, Bronaugh, Matt Layher and his wife Lori of Bronaugh, and Elise McNeil of Nevada; three great-granddaughters, Josie Banes of Bronaugh, and Natali and Emily Layher of Bronaugh.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m., at Evergreen Memorial Chapel with Minister Kennon Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Worsley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
