Civic League offers prizes

The Tourist Club Civic Improvement League has offered prizes to be awarded July 20, and all entries must be made on or before July 15. The following is a list of prizes: Front lawns, first place, $2.50; second place, $2; Back yards, first place, $2.50; second place $1.50. Prizes will be give in each of the city's wards.

Tom Bewley's entry wins first in seal

contest

Members of the city council had to do considerable scratching of their artistic heads last night to determine the winners of the city's seal contest.

After close scrutiny of the entries submitted, the one submitted by Tom Bewley, which carried the theme of friendliness, was chosen as first place winner. Bewley received an award of $25. Second prize went to Mrs. CC newman for her entry depicting four segments of Nevada society -- religion, education, industry and finance. Third place went to Mrs. Robert Triplett on her entry depicting Nevada akin to an oak tree.
