The Vernon County Arts Council will host a benefit dinner Saturday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m., in the City/County Community Center in Nevada, to raise money for their new programs.

The dinner will consist of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans almondine, grilled Texas toast, brownie cake, and iced tea or fruit beverage.

"Eating fried chicken is a great way to support our art council's goal to bring fine arts to our area," Cecil Pritchett, chef for the meal said. "People from everywhere love the old world-style brine fried chicken that we will be serving, and you will, too."

The meal is expected to bring in nearly 200 people.

"We are preparing to dish up 189 servings," Pritchett said. "Call some friends and invite them to join you for a fried chicken dinner night out in support of your local Vernon County Arts Council."
