Kenneth Earl "Kenny" Wells

Kenneth Earl "Kenny" Wells, age 75, resident of rural Fort Scott, Kan., died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at his home. He was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Wichita, Kan., the son of Harold O. Wells and Mabel E. Nichols Wells. He married Ruth Culler on April 16, 1950, in Nevada, Mo.

He was a master craftsman who built many homes and buildings in and around Fort Scott. In his spare time he loved fishing, hunting, raising cattle, listening to classical music, and reading Louis L'Amour novels.

Kenny is survived by his wife Ruth, of the home; step-mother, Frances Wells of Wichita; two sons, Steven Wells and wife Patsy of Arma, Kan., and Dwayne Wells of Fort Scott; three daughters, Kathryn Wells and Dolores Wells of the home, and Faith Varner and husband Steven of Fort Scott; two half-brothers, Raymond Clark of Gravois Mills, Mo., and Jerry Wells of Arizona; eight grandchildren, Clifton and Daniel Varner, Jamie Judy, Melissa Love, and Lee Ann, Michael, Rose, and Matthew Wells; several great-grandchildren, aunts, and uncles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Warren Wells, and a sister, Patricia Wells.

The Revs. A.F. Collins and Paul Rooks will conduct graveside services for Kenny Wells at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Deerfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9-10 a.m., at the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott.
