The Nevada tennis team finished second out of four teams at a tournament in Harrisonville Saturday. Nevada finished with 10 team points, while Clinton won with 20 points.

The Lady Tigers had the first place No. 1 doubles team, as Molly Ferree and Whitley del Rosario teamed up to win three matches and take home the top trophy.

Ferree and del Rosario beat a team from Harrisonville to start, 8-0. They followed that with wins against both of Clinton's teams for the title. The duo topped Clinton's No. 2 team, 8-0 in the semifinals. In the finals it was Clinton's top team of Ellie Haideman and Mallory McIntyre, but Nevada's top two were too much, winning 8-6.

The No. 2 doubles team had a bad day, losing their first match 8-3 to Harrisonville's No. 2 team. They finished the day with a 6-0 win over Grandview to end up fourth overall.

In singles it was Elise McNeil and Nicole Foreman for Nevada. Both lost their only two matches of the day.

"Again, we're plagued by inconsistent play," Nevada head coach Dennis Pendrak said. "Even when we won, we'd get ahead and let them back in it."

Pendrak said the team looks awesome at times, but focus continues to be an issue.

"You see flashes of 'boy that girl can play,' and you see flashes of 'why is she just standing there?''' he said.

"My biggest concern is consistent effort."

The Lady Tigers will be back in action this afternoon when they host Lamar at the Nevada High School tennis courts. Nevada is also at home Thursday when they resume Southwest Conference play against Webb City, also a home match.
