William Gottfried

William Gottfried passed away Sept. 7, 2006.

He was born on Feb. 14, 1915, at New Home, Stutsman County, N.D. He was the son of Peter and Mary (Sperling) Gottfried. William was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church until his death. William worked as a farmer and a carpenter for 65 years.

William met Bertha Schnabel in California and they were married on March 18, 1940, in Las Vegas, Nev. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to North Dakota. Their marriage was blessed by 66 years and five children.

William was preceded in death by three children, Bernie Lee, Ronald Wm. and Lavonne Marie; and four siblings, Lillian, Gilbert, Clifford and Waldemar.

William is survived by his wife, Bertha; two daughters, Donna Hibberd, Milo, and Karen Schmidt of Littleton, Colo.; one sister, Arlene Olderbak of Edmond, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Jamey and Cathy Hibberd, Lori and Susan Gottfried, Carolyn Darrell, Lisa Cutter, Leslie Cole, Roger Brown and Laura Denton and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Sept. 10, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Nevada.
