Max Victor Koenig, 53, Nevada, Mo., passed away suddenly on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at his home in Nevada. He was born June 23, 1953, in Wamego, Kan., to Victor George Koenig and Dorothy Edna Gnadt Koenig.

Max was born in Wamego, and lived at a variety of locatios as a youth. He graduated from Rich Hill High School in 1971. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Following the service, he operated Koenig Auto Sales for a number of years and most recently has owned and operated Amvets in Nevada. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Nevada Elks Lodge No. 564, and Nevada Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 3770.

Survivors include two sons, Bracken Koenig, Nevada, and Matt Koenig, Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Hunter, Madalyn, Brayden, and Bryce Koenig, all of Nevada; two brothers, Charles Koenig, Alma, Kan., and Ernie Koenig, Hope, Kan.; one sister, Joan Spiker, Manhattan, Kan.; and close companion, Sandy Wilson, Nevada.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 9, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Perkey officiating. Interment will be in Alma City Cemetery, Alma, Kan., at 3 p.m., on Monday. The family receives friends 9:30-10:30 a.m., Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
