Frances Marie McClellan

Frances Marie McClellan, 83, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following an illness of a few weeks. She was born April 11, 1923, in Franklin County, Mo., to Frank Bourbon and Annie Mulligan Bourbon.

At the age of nine, Frances was adopted by Bertha McClellan and was reared at Braymer, Mo. In 1943 she graduated from high school in the state of Tennessee. She came to Nevada in 1955 from Chillicothe, Mo., and worked in a nursing home here. From 1958-'73, she was housekeeper for the late Charles Franks of rural Moundville, Mo. She later lived in Madison, Tenn., where she was employed in restaurants and as a caregiver, before returning to Nevada. She retired from the Nevada State Hospital in the 1980's. For many years, Miss McClellan repaired donated jewelry, which became gifts for patients at the Nevada State Hospital. She enjoyed playing cards and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include one niece, Mikki A. Johnson, Nevada; and three nephews, Terry L. Johnson, Firestone, Colo., Sherril R. Johnson, Dallas, Texas, and Charles E. Johnson, Nevada. Frances was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Caldwell and Florence Johnson; and two brothers, Laurence Bourbon and Earl Bourbon.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 20, at Welborn Cemetery, Moundville, with pastor David Rorabaugh officiating. Friends may call now and until 10:30 a.m., on Friday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Memorials may be given to the Welborn Cemetery Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
