Where rest many pioneer citizens

One of the most beautiful burial grounds in this county is the Balltown Cemetery, and which is also on of the oldest and one that receives respectful attention from one year to another. This beautiful resting place of the departed is of historical interest in this county for here are buried many of the pioneers of Vernon County man and women who settled upon the Osage River and there hewed logs that composed the log cabins that dotted the riverside in an earlier day. Balltown was for many years the chief trading point in this section, when the Osage Indians still lived in their wigwams on the Osage.

State takes over two more roads

Two former Vernon County roads now designated as Temporary State Route N have been given permanent state highway status by action of the State Highway Commission at its October meeting in Jefferson City.

One of the Route N sections make a permanent state highway by this action extends from Route 42, northeast of Bronaugh, east about 2.8 miles.

The other section extends from presently constructed Route N, west of Bronaugh, south about 2.1 miles.
