Joyce Eileen Stewart, age 62, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Joplin, Mo. She was born April 9, 1944, in rural Linn County, the daughter of Harry Marmon and Arlene Clay Marmon.

Joyce worked at Dayco and Tower Metal. She married George Wingate and was later divorced. She married Melvin Stewart and also later divorced. Her hobbies include crocheting, and working with animals, especially horses.

Survivors include her mother, Arlene Duesler, Monett, Mo.; one son, John Charles Wingate, LaCygne, Kan.; four daughters, Joy Mildfelt and husband Todd, Richmond, Kan., Darla Wallis and husband Don, Claremore, Okla., Towanda Glenn and husband John, Coffeyville, Kan., and Twila Bruce and husband Jay, Uniontown, Kan.; two brothers, John Marmon, Monett, Mo., and James Marmon, Gainsville, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Marmon; her step-father, Bill Duesler; one son, Georgie Wingate; one daughter, Julie Bales; and a grandson, Jaden Bruce.

The Rev. Jared Witt will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mapleton Cemetery, Mapleton, Kan.
