Nellie Mae Ladwig

Nellie Mae Ladwig, 65, Nevada, Mo., departed this life on Jan. 11, 2007, at her home. She was born Feb. 26, 1941, in Greenfield, Mo., in Dade County to James William and Opal Merrie Mayer.

Nellie married Melvin Ladwig on April 21, 1962, in Greenfield, Mo. She also attended school in Greenfield. Nellie had several hobbies that she enjoyed including boating, fishing, bingo and playing cards. She also loved to spend time with her family and many friends. She worked at the Nevada State Hospital for 12 years. After that she worked at the San Jose, Calif., school district for five years. When she returned to Nevada she worked at the Nevada City Hospital until her retirement in 1997.

Her survivors are her husband Melvin of the home; children, Rick Clayton, San Jose, Calif., Randy Ladwig of Nevada, Roxanna Leer of Sheldon, Mo., and Rose Thorton of Nevada; one sister, Fern Merrie Brown of Lamar, Mo.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews and her best friend Lura Eslinger. She was preceeded in death by her parents and one granddaughter Bethany Nichole Leer.

Services were at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, at Balltown Cemetery with John Nichols presiding over the graveside service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart and Lung Association.

Services were under the direction of Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
