Fatal shooting in Horton

A shooting affray occurred at Horton on Thursday night which may result in the death of photographer Whipple of this city and the arrest of Harlow Humble who is charges with shooting Mr. Whipple. The wounded man's condition is extremely critical as the bullet from Humble's revolver entered Whipple's abdomen just a little ways to the right of the naval and buried itself probably in his back. The revolver was so close to Mr. Whipple that the powder burned his vest. Had the revolver been farther away the bullet would have probably have passed clear through Whipple's body.

Humble is the son of Chas Humble on of the oldest residents and most widely known citizens of Osage township. He is well known here and is a married man.

Mr. Whipple, the man who was shot, has lived in Nevada comparatively a short time, he having a photograph gallery on west Cherry street and has also been engaged in operating a moving picture machine.

FBI nabs three Russian spies

NEW YORK -- The FBI today seized three members of an alleged "highly organized" Russian spy ring and accused them of conspiring to obtain U.S. defense documents and photographs.

There were hints that the roundup eventually may involve "Soviet officials."

The three arrested -- a man, his wife and a second man, all foreign born -- were arrested by FBI agents at their New York apartment early today.

U.S. Attorney Paul W. Williams said the FBI has been investigating this espionage action for at least 10 years and all indications point that it has been going on even longer than that.
