Corn prices are on the rise. Ethanol and biodiesel plants are being built throughout the nation. bringing with them increased demand for corn and soybeans that can be used for fuels ot make up for shifts in the market for crops used for other products or for livestock feed as well.

Consequently, producers may be rethinking their usual rotation and no-till practices.

In an effort to provide local producers with more information on the subject, state soybean specialist Bill Wiebold of the University of Missouri Extension will give a presentation about corn and soybean responses to no-tillage and yield penalties for continual corn or soybeans, during an evening meeting set for Thursday, Feb. 14.

The meeting will start with a meal at 6 p.m., so producers are asked to send in meal reservations to (417) 448-2560, or millerpd@missouri.edu by Feb. 13.

The meeting will be held at the Bowman building at 2115 N. West St., Nevada.

To get to the building, take the Highland Street exit at Nevada and go west on Highland Street, past the YMCA to West Street. Go north on West Street two blocks to the Bowman Building.
