The Nevada Tiger wrestling team won another dual Tuesday, pushing their record to 7-1.

The Tigers beat Carl Junction on their home mats, 40-24.

Lawrence Shouse, Ryan Herda and Jerrod Alexander each won by pin, and five other Tigers earned victories, offsetting the first loss of the season by Nevada junior Spenser Daniels.

Shouse and Herda won by fall in the first period, while Alexander wore down his opponent to topple Kyle Crane 40 seconds into the third round.

Cole Bond posted a big victory at 152 pounds, beating defending state champion Josh Landes in overtime, 2-1. Landes won the 145-pound class last season, but it's the second consecutive year Bond has beaten the Bulldog standout.

Daniels lost a 5-2 decision to Chris Green, who was fourth in the state at 189 last season.

Mason Heard won by injury default at 112 pounds, while Todd Brier (130) and Nick Nelson (135) won by major decisions.

Tyler Werner was Nevada's only other victory, winning a 5-4 battle at 160.

Jimmy Ellis (103), Michael Maddock (119), Steven Prall (125), Mike Thomas (140) and Travis Green (145) won for Carl Junction.

The Tigers also took third at a dual tournament featuring 12 teams Saturday in Warrensburg.

The Tigers won their pool, topping Bolivar, Warrensburg and K.C. Center.

The other two pool winners were Kearney and Ozark, both ranked in the top four in Class 3.

Nevada, the second-ranked team in Class 2, simply couldn't keep up with the bigger powers. Kearney won the title by beating Ozark.

Daniels and Bond went unbeaten on the day, while Herda went 4-1 and Heard was 3-2.

The Tigers wrapped up Southwest Conference action with a 54-26 win over Webb City on Thursday.

The win gives Nevada second place in the conference, with Carthage taking the title.

"Conference would have been very nice, but it's not near as important as district and state," Nevada head coach Kevin Huck said.

The Tigers host Buffalo Thursday, then go to a tournament in Diamond Saturday.
