The prospect for fruit in Vernon County

In answer to letters asking in what condition are fruit trees and vines for fruit the coming season.

Apple trees, most varieties formed fruit buds for a full crop.

Peach trees as usual formed and matured ten fruit buds where one would be enough for a full crop.

The sleet Jan. 15 and 16 killed many buds on varieties tender in bud, but all peach trees have more life buds than the trees can mature.

Take into consideration the mild weather fruit buds are not advanced and are in good condition for a full crop. The same is true for pears, cherries, plums and other fruit trees.
