Virginia Mae Steele

Virginia Mae Steele, 78, Nevada, Mo., passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following a brief illness. She was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Green Ridge, Mo., to Maurice Edward McKenzie and Vera Ethel Scott McKenzie. She was married in 1946 in Nevada, to Clarence Harold Peterson. She later married Francis Edward Kiger, Nov., 20, 1957, in Harrison, Ark., and he died Dec. 30, 1974. She then married Rex Leon Steele, Dec. 16, 1978, in Nevada, and he died Dec. 17, 1990.

Mrs. Steele was born. in Green Ridge, Mo., and lived in a variety of locations as a youth. She spent the majority of her adult life in Nevada. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Nevada. She worked for a number of years as a psychiatric aide at the Nevada State Hospital, retiring in 1970. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include two sons, Randall Edward Kiger, Nevada, and Troy DeWayne Kiger and wife Katie, Raymore, Mo.; three daughters, Linda Lou McCormick, Nevada, Rhonda Kay Farmer and husband Ron, Nevada, and Kathy Rae Zoglmann and husband Leonard, Nevada; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Clinton McKenzie, Nevada. She was preceded in death by one infant son, Clarence Harold Peterson Jr. and one brother Maurice Dale McKenzie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Ferry Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Satterlee offciating. Interment will follow, in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may calI now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

The family suggests that memorials may be made in her honor, to the Church of the Nazarene, Nevada, in care of the funeral home.
