Harold John Roufs

Harold John Roufs, age 90, a former resident of Fulton, Kan., more recently of Walnut Grove, Mo., died Friday, March 23, 2007, at the Ash Grove Health Care Center in Ash Grove, Mo. He was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Anamoose, N.D., the son of William Cornelius Roufs and Josephine Regina Hanenburg Roufs.

Harold served with the Army Air Force during World War II. Following his service with the military, he settled near Fulton, Kan., where he raised cattle and farmed. He enjoyed working with saddle horses and hunting deer.

He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the saddle club and the V.F.W.

Harold moved to Walnut Grove, a year ago to be near his son.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Roufs, Walnut Grove, Dennis Roufs, Springfield, Mo., and Daryl Roufs, Fulton; sister, Marcella Timmins, Fort Scott; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold J. "Johnny" Roufs Jr. and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, March 26, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel with William James Schafer officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
