The Nevada Pit club wrestling team is back in action as they competed in a tournament in Warrensburg Saturday.

Spenser Daniels won both the freestyle and the greco tournaments in his weight class.

Mason Heard took second in both competitions.

Todd Brier was second in freestyle and third in greco.

Trey Miller, Chase Brooks, Alex Giunta and Dominic Habjan each finished fourth in both freestyle and greco brackets. Gage Brooks was fourth in freestyle.

Head coach Chip Balk said Brier was the Tiger Pit wrestler of the tourney because he had such a spectacular showing.

There are currently 25-30 wrestlers competing with the Tiger Pit club, including some from Adrian, Fort Scott and Chanute, Kan.

Also helping coach the club this year is Monte Padgett. Padgett was a four-time district champion and placed at state twice, including a championship in 1990.

The club will send four wrestlers to the Brute Adidas Nationals in Kansas City this weekend. There will also be about 10 wrestlers attending a tournament in McDonald County.
