Marjorie May (Norwood) Darrah, 88, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Christian Health Care in Nevada. She was born May 29, 1918, in Milford, Mo., the daughter of James Lee Norwood and Lula May McNary Norwood. She was united in marriage to Jason Thomas "Jake" Darrah in 1936 in Fort Scott, Kan. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 2001.

Marjorie was born and reared in this area and spent her formative years here. She graduated from Sheldon High School in 1936. Following her marriage, she and her husband operated a trucking company. They moved to Grove, Okla., in 1959 where they owned and operated the Four Seasons Resort on Grand Lake until their retirement. Since retirement, Marjorie enjoyed traveling, bowling, fishing, and long stays in the Branson area. She was a member of the Grove Christian Church, Gospel Gals, and Keenagers Club. She has resided in Nevada since 2002.

Survivors include one brother, Cecil Norwood, Sheldon; one sister, Betty Butler, Fort Worth, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In addition to her husband, Jake, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Gerald Norwood, George Norwood, Beva Norwood, and Halbert Norwood; and one sister, Mildred Norwood Fowler.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, April 27, at the Sheldon Christian Church, Sheldon, with the Rev. Lee Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery. Friends may call now and until 11 a.m., on Friday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
