During a regular meeting set for 7 o'clock tonight, the Nevada City Council will be taking a look at two major infrastructure projects the city has had in development for several years as well as a measure to add several new city hall staff members.

The renovation of the runway at the Nevada Municipal Airport will take center stage tonight as the council considers bids for paving the runway with concrete and electrical upgrades. The council will also be considering an ordinance approving a supplemental agreement with Burns & McDonnell to provide construction services during the runway rehabilitation project. In addition, the council will be looking at a resolution to authorize the city to apply for an additional $100,000 STAR Loan to cover any possible project cost overruns on either the runway rehabilitation or the new terminal building.

On May 1, the city council gave preliminary approval to a measure to add several new employees; however, several council members requested further information on what the job requirements of the jobs would be as well as what the pay would be and where that money was to come from.

Tonight the council will take up that ordinance for the second reading.

Other items on tonight's agenda include bids for record management software for the Nevada Police Department and an ordinance approving the license and support agreement for that software; an agreement with Challenger Sports Corporation to provide a youth soccer camp in Nevada; a resolution naming Bill McGuire, city manager, as the city's signatory for a State Revolving Fund Loan for a wastewater treatment plant and a resolution authorizing the application for a $200,000 matching grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation enhancement program to build ADA compliant sidewalks from the downtown area east to Wal-Mart. Under the terms of the grant the federal share would be $160,000 with the remaining $40,000 coming from the city and other local sources.

The meeting will be held in council chambers, located inside the city's public safety building at Ash and Austin, Nevada.
