Adolph James Soukup

Adolph James Soukup, 80, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Freeman Health System West, Joplin, Mo., following a lengthy illness. He was born May 18, 1927, in Kanopolis, Kan., to Adolph J. Soukup and Mildred Vondra Soukup. He married Mary E. Raddy on March 8, 1947, in Fort Scott, Kan., and she survives of the home.

Adolph came to Nevada at age 10 with his family and attended Nevada schools. He served in the U.S. Army from August 1945 to October 1946. He worked as a mechanic for Northern National Gas (later Enron) for 35 years during which time he lived in Kansas, Minnesota, and Iowa. Following his retirement in 1984, be and Mary returned to Nevada. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 2, Nevada.

In addition to his wife Mary, survivors include one son, James F. Soukup and his wife Kathy, Lonsdale, Minn.; two granddaughters, Kristin Biegert and her husband Brad, Faribault, Minn., and Angela Soukup, Grand Forks, N.D.; one great-grandson, Alex James Biegert; two half-sisters, Frances Lamners and Joan Lanning, both of Nevada; two half-brothers, Stanley Soukup, Nevada, and Don Soukup, Bronaugh, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, June 20, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with father Joseph Powers officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 1-2 p.m., on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
