Tuesday, August 21, 2007

The Ellis Foundation awarded college scholarships to nine graduating seniors from Nevada High School at its awards ceremony this May 2007. Two of the scholarships were generously sponsored by the Finis M. Moss Charitable Trust in Nevada. Each scholarship pays up to $8,000 over eight consecutive semesters. This represents 21 scholarships awarded at Nevada High School over the last four years for a total commitment to Nevada students of $168,000. The foundation works closely with rural high school counselors and personally interviews each applicant. Students must be enrolled in college full-time and maintain a certain GPA. The Ellis Foundation awarded 250 new scholarships this year to graduating seniors from more than 50 high schools in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kentucky. Beginning with the fall semester, the Ellis Foundation will provide financial assistance to more than 550 full-time college students.
