Omer Clifford Whitworth

Omer Clifford Whitworth, 97, of Moundville, passed away Saturday, August 18, at Nevada Regional Medical Center.

Omer Clifford Whitworth was born May 3, 1910, near Moundville to Henry Alvy and Annie Emma Hurlburt Whitworth. He farmed and lived all his life in and near Moundville. He started his education at Long Star School, and attended Hackberry one year, finishing his education in Moundville, attending Moundville High School.

He started farming on his own in 1926 and farmed and trucked until he was 88 years old.

He married Mabel Shields in 1928 and to this union was born three children, Gail Wysong, Patsy Ann Campbell and Gary Alva Whitworth. He married Roberta E. Streiner in 1949 and she preceded him in death in 1999. They had two sons, Robert Eugene Whitworth and Clifford Ray Whitworth.

He is survived by his daughters Gail Wysong, Patsy Ann Campbell and her husband, John; sons Robert Whitworth and Clifford Whitworth and his wife Jean; grandchildren, Gara Leann Orme and her husband Gilbert Gregory, Lynn Campbell and his wife Margie, Gina Kay Whitlock and her husband Rick, Timothy Eugene Whitworth and his wife Catherine, Daniel Wayne Whitworth and his wife Christi, Dustin Lee Whitworth and his wife Andrea, Jacob Clifford Whitworth and his wife Brandi, Izack Henry Whitworth, John Wyatt Whitworth and his wife Tasha; one step-grandson, Jan F. Wysong and his wife Judy as well as great-grandchildren, Nicole Lynn Campbell, Allison Marie Campbell, Andrew Lee Whitlock, Wyatt Timothy Whitworth, Garret Patrick Whitworth, Colton Myles Whitworth, Lindsey Cathleen Bobbi Whitworth, Tyler Joseph Whitworth, Nathan Christopher Whitworth, Samantha RayAnn Whitworth, Brandin Clifford Whitworth, Bryce Lee Whitworth, Gavin Wyatt Whitworth, Bradley Dirk Whitworth; step-great-grandchildren, Julie Wysong McCool and her husband Rocky and Jennifer Wysong Gloss and her husband Matt, and step-great-grandchildren, David McCool, Aaron McCool, Cara McCool, Sarah Gloss and Joseph Gloss, and his beloved sister Iva Shaw, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Adra Whitworth and Audra McFarland and his son, Gary Alva Whitworth.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Ed Post officiating. Interment will follow in Welborn Cemetery, Moundville. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
