Local youth wins motocross championship in Florida

While most people were planning for and eating Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family, 8-year-old Austin Forkner, Richards, was in Gainsville, Fla., winning the national motocross championship for 7-8 year-olds in the 50 cc division. Forkner, the son of Mike and Julie Forkner, beat 76 other racers to win the championship at the 36th annual Winter Motocross Olympics at the Gatorback Cycle Park. Four thousand racers from all over the world competed for amateur motocross championships. --submitted photo
