Frank and Miller elected to lead the Missouri Veterans Commission
At its quarterly meeting on Nov. 27, the Missouri Veterans Commission elected Joseph J. Frank as chairman and Bernadette A. Miller as vice chairwoman of the Commission.
Frank was nominated to succeed former state representative Carson Ross as chairman. Frank was appointed to the Commission on Feb. 9, 2005, by Governor Matt Blunt.
Frank previously served on the Commission from July 1999 to November 2001. A Vietnam veteran, Frank is a past national commander of the American Legion and currently serves on the executive board of the Jefferson Barracks Heritage Foundation and is a veterans advocate.
Frank resides in Sunset Hills, Mo.
Miller was nominated to succeed Frank as vice chairman. Miller was appointed to the Commission on Dec. 12, 2001, and reappointed by Governor Matt Blunt on March 3, 2005. Miller is a Vietnam veteran from Springfield, Mo., who served in the Army Nurse Corps as well as having served in the U.S. Army Reserves. She is a past senior vice commander of the Ozark Missouri VFW.
Ross, Blue Springs, Mo., will continue to serve on the Commission along with S. Lee Kling, St. Louis, and retired Brig. Gen. Arvid E. West Jr., Jefferson City, Mo.
The Missouri Veterans Commission, a state agency, operates seven State Veterans Homes, four State Veterans Cemeteries, and the Service to Veterans Program.
