NEVADA, Mo. -- The Nevada Tigers kicked off a four-game home stand by losing in overtime before a small home crowd to the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs 53-51 Friday night and dropping their season record to 2-3.

"We controlled the game early, but after the first four minutes they controlled the game," Nevada head coach John McNeley said afterwards.

"I feel we lacked aggressiveness and were too easy to guard," he said.

Both of these teams have similar talent levels, McNeley said, adding that El Dorado might be a little more athletic.

"I get a sense that there is some sense of satisfaction where we were at: 2-2. This (game) I wouldn't call success," he said.

"We played some nice stretched during the game, but that will not win a game".

The Tigers, who were in the lead or tied with the Bulldogs for all but 1:20 of regulation play, crept out to a 2-0 lead about three minutes into the first period with a pair of free throws by senior Brandon Davis and amassed an 11-3 lead over the Bulldogs by the end of the quarter.

Nevada's scoring slowed to a crawl in the second quarter adding two points from Jake Cherry from under the basket while the Bulldogs steadily added points until they took a brief 14-13 lead with about 1:28 left in the quarter. A basket by Nevada senior Jordan Kerbs put Nevada back in front 15-14 until El Dorado added two more for a16-15 lead with eight seconds left.

Kerbs hit a trey at the buzzer to send the Tigers to the locker room with an 18-16 lead.

The Tigers continued to slowly add to their total during the third quarter while holding the Bulldogs in check, leading 30-20 with one minute left, only to see the Bulldogs start to come back adding four points to narrow Nevada's lead to 30-24 to end the period.

The Tigers watched their lead continue to evaporate during the fourth quarter until the Bulldogs tied the score at 35 each with five minutes left in the game.

Two points by Dan Lovinger, a trey by Parker Richardson and two by Kerbs put Nevada back in front 42-37.

Nevada added two more points, while the Bulldogs scored six, cutting Nevada's lead to 44-43 with 1:15 left. Nevada started to stall until Kerbs was fouled with 22 seconds left to put Nevada at 46-42.

The Tigers were ahead 46-43 with three seconds left on the clock when El Dorado Springs hit a three-point shot to send the game into overtime with 46 each.

The Bulldogs added two points in the first 30 seconds of OT, which Nevada's Jordan Kerbs matched to tie the score 48-48. The Bulldogs quickly add two more points for a 50-48 lead with three minutes left in OT.

Kerbs finished out Nevada's scoring, making three of six free throws, which the Bulldogs matched.

Jordan Kerbs led Nevada with 24 points, including one trey and making seven of 13 free throws, followed by Brandon Davis with 10 points, making four of five free throws.

Parker Richardson scored seven points, Dan Lovinger, six points and Jake Cherry and Kyle Hughes both scored two points.

Michael Thomason lead El Dorado Springs with 12 points followed by Alex Boonyakiti with 11 points.

Kanon Hoover and Jordan Kirbey both scored 10 points, Daniel Boswell scored two points and Logan Schwalm and Logan Alumbaugh both scored one point.
