Lonso L. Harper, 70, of Independence, Mo., originally from Nevada, died Jan. 13, 2008, at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, at Six Mile Baptist Church, 26005 E. Blue Mills Road, Sibley, Mo; interment will be at Six Mile Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., prior to the services.

Lonso was born Aug. 5, 1937, in Nevada, the youngest of 20 children. He was an inspector at the Allis Chalmers plant for 32 years and retired in 1993. He attended church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and tending to his vegetable gardens. He was always there to help out a family member or neighbor.

Lonso is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia Harper, of the home; son, Rick Harper and wife Jenny Shadwick, of Clinton, Mo.; daughters Joann Richardson and husband Wade, of Valley, Mo., and Gina Walters and husband Darrell, of Oak Grove, Mo.; sister Louise Jones, of Springfield, Mo.; brother Percy Harper and wife Waldeen, of Bartlesville, Okla.; Raymond Harper and wife Dollie, of St. Charles, Mo.; grandchildren Will, Seth and Emma Richardson, Brenna Shadwick, Spencer Harper, Destiny and Sharlie Walters.
