Local teenager to represent Vernon County at National 4-H Conference

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

Katlyn Logan, an 11-year 4-H member of Sheldon 4-H Club from Vernon County, was selected as a delegate to represent Missouri 4-H at the National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C. The National 4-H Conference is a working conference in which youth and adults -- at the invitation of the Secretary of Agriculture -- assist in the development of recommendations to help guide 4-H Youth Development Programs nationally and in their communities.

This event brings together youth, volunteer leaders, state, and county Extension staff members from across the United States, its territories, and the Canadian Provinces. The recommendations that are generated by this group are shared with the Secretary of Agriculture and help shape 4-H Youth Development policy nationwide.

National 4-H Conference will be held at the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, MD, March 29-April 3. It is designed for teens from across the nation with outstanding leadership potential who will share with others when they return home. It focuses on idea sharing about issues in 4-H. Again, recommendations for programming and the involvement of teens are developed during the conference.

Katlyn is the daughter of H.M. and Terry Logan and is a bio-chemistry major at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
