FlorEtta "Flora" Wilcox, 81, of Las Cruses, N.M., formerly of Nevada, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Casa de Oro, in Las Cruces, N.M., following an lengthy illness. She was born on Sept. 6, 1926, in Carl Junction, Mo., to Marcus Otis Ransier, and Jane Copeland Ransier. She married Everett E. Wilcox, on Aug. 29, 1946, in Maritopa, Calif. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2001.

Flora grew up in Bates County and Pleasanton, Kan., where she went to school. She and her husband lived for many years in Bakersfield, Cail. Following his retirement from Standard Oil Company, they came to Nevada in 1971, where they lived until 2001, when they moved to New Mexico. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Tucker, of Chico, Calif., and Marlene Jackson, of Deming, N.M.; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and five brothers, Ernest Ransier, of Pasco, Wash., Floyd Ransier, of Canon City, Colo., Lewis Ransier, of Eureka, Mont., Melvin Ransier, of Pleasanton, Kan., and Eugene Ransier, of Helena, Mont. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis and Richard Ransier.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 21, at National Cemetery in Fort Scott. Friends may call from Tuesday afternoon until 10 a.m., on Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
