Dale Butterfield, 97, Nevada, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada following a short illness. He was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Bronaugh, to Walter Henry Butterfield and Effie Mae Stark Butterfield. He was married Oct. 6, 1934, in Vernon County to Mildred Lorene Whiteside and she preceded him in death Dec. 9, 2002.

Dale grew up in the Bronaugh area and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1929. He farmed for many years, did carpentry work, and also worked at the Nevada State Hospital for 15 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada, past master and member of the Osage Masonic Lodge, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Red Cross of Constantine, Fort Scott, Nevada Lions Club, the Odd Fellows and was also a Shriner.

Survivors include six children, Elaine Mullins, Nevada, Darrel Butterfield and his wife Sharon, Des Moines, Iowa, Karen Stevenson, Nevada, Carol Lyons, Nevada, Joan Rives, Nevada, and Kenny Butterfield and his wife Becky, Nevada; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Blaine Butterfield of Kansas. In addition to his wife Mildred, he was preceded in death by one son, Jim Butterfield, five brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, March 13, at the First Christian Church, Nevada, with pastor David Rorabaugh, Bill Platt, and Justin Brodie officiating. Interment will follow in Welborn Cemetery, Moundville. Masonic services will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, after which, the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
