John H. Morris

John H. Morris, 82, of Deerfield, Mo., passed away on Friday, March 21, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness. He was born on Dec. 3, 1925, in Arcadia, Kan., to John Robert Morris and Della May Garrett Morris. He married Elena Largo on July 20, 1991, in Dipolog City, Phillipines, and she survives of the home.

John grew up in Arcadia, Kan., and attended school there. He served in the United States Navy for 2 1/2 years during World War II. He operated a limestone rock quarry for 30 years. He has resided in Deerfield for the past 50 years.

In addition to his wife Elena, he is survived by three children, John O. Morris and his wife Arlene, of Malta, Mont., Maria Morris, and William Morris, of the home; five grandchildren, John E. Morris, Christina Morris, Amy Grace Morris, Matthew Garrison and Nicolaus Garrison; one brother, Robert L. Morris, of Parsons, Kan.; and six stepchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma in 1968; his daughter, Laura M. Garrison; a brother, Jimmie A. Morris, and one sister Wanda Judge.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, March 25, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, will the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, in Arcadia, Kan., with Military Honors. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral hom and the family will recieve friends 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
