Budweiser Clydesdales to visit Fort Scott in June

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

The Budweiser Clydesdales will be arriving in Fort Scott on June 2 for a week-long visit.

Never having appeared in Fort Scott before, their arrival is a once-in-a-lifetime event for many area residents.

With 10 horses, their wagon and various other equipment and supplies, Budweiser will be coming into town and anticipates stabling the Clydesdales at the Fort Scott National Historic Site.

Several events in addition to just being able to see and observe the Clydesdales are to be featured. Naturally, the Clydesdales will be leading the Good Ol' Days parade held on Friday, June 6. Pictures with the Clydesdales will be available on Saturday, during the Good Ol' Days celebration.

Evening events on Wednesday, June 4, and Thursday, June 5, include exhibitions preformed by the Clydesdales and their handlers at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds arena.

These two events are free and open to the public and will feature the intricate hitching procedure, the horses' maneuvering abilities and an opportunity to truly see what makes these horses so special! These events are nothing like anything that has come to the Fort Scott area ever before.

These events are sponsored in part by the Fort Scott National Historic Site, Crawford Sales, KOMB/KMDO radio, the Bourbon County Fair Board, KKOW/KBZI radio and the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce. Other sponsors are currently being sought and contracted for the events.

More information about sponsorship or events is available by contacting the Chamber of Commerce, at (620) 223-3566.
