R-5 board moves ahead in search for new leader
The Nevada R-5 School District has enlisted the aid of the Missouri School Boards Association in its search for a new superintendent. The board met Wednesday evening with a representative of the MSBA to go over the applications of more than a dozen candidates for the position.
The board selected four candidates to be interviewed Saturday during a closed session starting at 8 a.m. Board member Chris Ellis said there were quite a few candidates to sift through to arrive at the four.
"We had a lot of applications," Ellis said. "I'm not sure how many but it was around 17 or 18."
Ellis attributed the high turnout to the school's academic performance, the district has been accredited with distinction several years in a row.
"We have a great reputation and I'm sure that has an impact on how many applicants we've had," Ellis said.
Once the interviews have been conducted on Saturday the board will have another meeting Monday morning to discuss the candidate to whom they wish to offer the position.
