Mary Ola Buckles

Mary Ola Buckles, age 83, formerly of the Walker and Schell City areas died on Friday, July 18, 2008, at Christian Health Care in Nevada following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 4, 1925, in Stotesbury, Mo., to Henry Lawrence Bloesser and Kittie Frances Martin Bloesser. On Dec. 19, 1943, she was married to Emmett Lewis Buckles and he preceded her in death in 1978.

Mary worked a number of years in Nevada at Nelly Don, the Nevada State Hospital, Kraft Foods, and for the Walker School District, from 1973 until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of the Walker Christian Church, The Order of the Eastern Star No. 53 in Nevada and had received her 50-year membership pin several years ago. Mary, who was also known for her musical ability was at one time an active member of the Crazy 8 Band which played at area nursing homes.

Survivors include one son, Charles L. "Larry" Buckles and his wife Barbara of Walker, Mo.; one daughter, Nancy McCrery and her husband Richard, of Nevada; four grandchildren, Kim Dade and her husband Tim of Walker, Kerry Jennings and her husband Darl of Nevada, Crystal Bearce and her husband Jack of Butler, and Eric McCrery and his wife Heather of Leland, Miss.; four great-grandsons, Aaron Dade, Ethan Dade, Damon Jennings, and Dirk Jennings all of Nevada, one sister, Corinne Oskee, Nevada; one brother, James E. Bloesser, Fresno, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Robert Charles Bloesser and Harry Joe Bloesser.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., on today at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Schell City, Mo., with Tim Brewer officiating. Friends may call at Ferry Funeral Home from 1 p.m. on Sunday until 1 p.m., on Tuesday and the family will receive friends from 7 p.m., on Monday evening at the funeral home.
