In the pink for a good cause

What are pink mohawks worth? Evidently about $2,000 each, because if the First Baptist Church's Vacation Bible School drive reaches its goal of $2,000, Scott Hill may just find himself sporting a new, hot pink hairdo. Above, Hill, center, flanked by missions director Katherine Tabor and surrounded by some of the children from the VBS craft segment, helps envision the mohawk with a pink lei atop his head, to go with the Hawaiian theme of the event. Open to children of any denomination, the church's Bible school is under way nightly, 6-8 p.m., ending Thursday, and each night a missions offering is taken. The money will be sent to the Southern Baptist International Mission Board to be spent in "high need areas" of the east Asia project. It will most likely go toward Chinese language Bibles and to earthquake relief, but the mission spends the money in the way it's most needed, according to Tabor. Those unable to attend who would like to contribute may do so by bringing donations to the First Baptist Church, 301 E. Highland, Nevada.
