The Cottey College Comets went out with high expectations of going 2-0 against the Fort Scott, Kan., Community College Greyhounds and fulfilled their goal.

The Comets swept the Greyhounds for the second time in less than a week, winning 25-10, 25-21, 25-17. Head coach Marla Kannady Foreman called the first set a "sound game" and was very pleased with the efforts of her team.

The last two sets were not quite as promising as the first, but Cottey was still able to hold on for the win.

"I think my players went out thinking the Greyhounds were going to make as many mistakes as they had in set one. However, they didn't, and so we found ourselves having to regroup several times," Foreman said.

Leading the Comets were Jesse Jargowsky with five aces and 15 digs, Ashleigh Bryson with 24 assists, Lauren Jenkins with eight kills and Anna Cruse with three blocks. The Comets have now improved their record to 4-1 on the season and will head to Columbia for their next contest against Stephens College on Sept. 13.
