Leininger named Teacher of the Year

Friday, October 10, 2008
Eileen Leininger was honored in late September by Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Harrisonville, as the 2008 Teacher of the Year. Leininger was nominated by an anonymous student who said that Leininger encouraged her students to believe that they could do anything they set their minds to, if they applied themselves. She was willing to help students, even on weekends and had gone to the school and unlocked it so the student could retreive homework left behind. The Sheldon R-7 School District received a $1,000 check to be used for supplies and Leininger received a $100 gift card. Leininger told the assembled students and teachers that "There's nothing I love more than teaching and there's nothing I love more than you guys. Thank you."
