Summer Kristine Buerge and Steve Duncan Timperley were married on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, Mo. The ceremony was officiated by the bride's childhood pastor, the Rev. Rob Carr, with the assistance of the Rev. Carla Aday. Summer is the daughter of Steven and Elaine Buerge, of Fort Scott. Steve is the son of Philip and Elizabeth Timperley, of Durban, South Africa.

The sanctuary was decorated in the multi-colored South African flower, the proteus, as well as bird of paradise, orchids, bamboo shoots and folded palm leaves. The aisle pews held triple-candle globes also enhanced with tropical flowers.

Bridal attendants included maid of honor, Emily Hultstrand, and bridesmaids Lacinda Fritter, Lacy Nickelson, Rachel Cunningham, Meredith Haynes, Kaitlin Neikirk and Mandy Menghini.

Best men were Mark and Brian Timperley, brothers of the groom, and Brian Devlin.

Groomsmen included Duncan Fourie, Mike Hoosien, Sean Monk and Shri Sudakhara.

Katherine Buerge, niece of the bride, and Bronwyn and Teagan Timperley, nieces of the groom, were flower girls.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Panapolli Trio and pianist Dale Ramsey.

Dinner and dancing followed at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art with music provided by the Kansas City band, Neon Blue. The couple later honeymooned in Maui, Hawaii.

The bride graduated from The University of Tulsa with a degree in marketing and works for Zillner Marketing Communications in Lenexa, Kan. The groom graduated with a management degree from the University of Tulsa and more recently from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Master in Business Administration. He is co-owner of Tencap Tennis LLC. The couple resides in Overland Park.
