Jon Conrad Seifert

Jon Conrad Seifert, age 75, resident of rural Fort Scott, died Thursday Oct. 23, 2008, at Mercy Health Center. He was born Nov. 19, 1932, in Weeping Water, Neb., the son of August William Seifert and Dorothy Delle Wiseman Seifert. He graduated from Weeping Water High School in 1950. Jon furthered his education at Lincoln School of Commerce, Rio Hondo College and LaSalle University. He joined the United States Navy 1952 to 1956 transporting troops to Okinawa, Japan and Korea. He was employed 40 years by Triangle Conduit and Cable Company serving as Southern California Operations Manager. Jon was active with the youth. He founded and directed a boys club, The Street Urchins, under the auspices of the county of Los Angeles in 1963 serving for 25 years. He received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1986 and was presented to Princess Margaret (UK). Jon resided in California from 1956 until moving to Fort Scott, in 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Jean Yule and husband John, Bremerton, Wash., and a brother, Ted Seifert, Omaha, Neb. Also surviving are three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

There was cremation. Inurnment will be in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Omaha, Neb. Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, is in charge of arrangements.
