Cottey College falls in road game

The Cottey College Comets suffered their second loss of the season at Labette County Community College in Parsons, Kan., on Nov. 22.

The offensive effort in the contest was led by Jessica Roberts with 28 points and the Comets shot well as a team, but were unable to earn the victory. Cottey found themselves in a rather deep hole early in the contest as Labette County outscored them 43-26 in the first half.

Brittany Smith put up some solid numbers in th game for Cottey as well, finishing the contest with 12 points.

The Comets came out firing in the second half and attempted to make a comeback but it wasn't enough as they eventually fell by a final score of 70-59. Cottey shot 48 percent overall from the field in the game, along with 41 percent from beyond the arc.

The free throw shooting exhibited by the Comets was not quite up to par as they made just 12 of 27 shots from the stripe. Most of the damage done in the game for Labette County was by Samantha Ludwig, who finished out the contest with 22 points.

With the loss, Cottey's record drops to 3-2 on the year and their next contest is scheduled for Dec. 2, against Baptist Bible College in Springfield. The next home game for the Comets is set to tip off at 7 p.m., on Dec. 11, as Penn Valley Community College heads into Hinkhouse Center.
