Leaf pickup begins Dec. 1

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

The city of Nevada Public Works will be picking up leaves starting Monday, Dec. 1.

Twigs, bagged leaves or limbs will not be accepted. Residents should have the leaves raked behind the curb and not in the street.

Leaf pick-up will begin in the southwest quarter of the city, then move on to the northwest, northeast and southeast quarters, in that order.

Public Works employees will make another round to pick up the leaves sometime around the end of December, weather permitting.

The compost site located at 702 S. Jefferson is also available to all city residents to dispose of yard waste items including tree limbs, grass clippings and unbagged leaves. The site's hours of operation are every Wednesday, 12:30 p.m. -- 6 p.m. and the first and third Saturdays, 8 a.m. -1 p.m.
