Clifford Curry

Clifford Curry, age 88, of Portage, Wis., died on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Divine Savior Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at Portage Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Hankins officiating. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

Clifford was born in August of 1920, at his home in Sheldon, Mo., the son of Denver Oney Curry and Bertha Ellen Rapp Curry. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1939. Clifford served his country with the United States Air Force during World War II.

He was married in September of 1949 to Edwynna Barber in Kansas City, Kan. They lived in Portage for 40 years. Clifford worked as a land surveyor for General Engineering, and Grothman & Assoc.

After retiring, he worked part-time with the Columbia County Highway Dept. He served two terms as Columbia County Surveyor. Clifford worked on the Great Lakes Pipeline and Sanguin Project.

He is survived by his wife, Edywnna; his son, Michael (Nancy) Curry; two daughters, Marsha Curry and Cynthia (Dan) Carney; his brothers, Leonard O. Curry, Nevada, Mo., and Winstor W. (Louise) Curry, San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
