Hume Lady Hornets split at Lakeland tournament

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

The Hume Lady Hornets split two recent contests at the Lakeland tournament.

On Dec. 15, the Lady Hornets defeated Ballard with a very strong all-around performance. Katie Orear dominated the game for Hume, finishing out the night with 30 points and 11 rebounds in the Lady Hornets' 49-31 victory.

Two nights later, the Lady Hornets found themselves in a near deadlock against Hermitage. Orear led the effort for Hume in that contest as well with nine points and 11 rebounds, but the Lady Hornets ultimately fell just short, dropping the contest by a final score of 31-28.

Orear's mark of nine points topped the Lady Hornets in the contest, but just by a single point. She was followed very closely by Makena Thompson with eight.

"We started out slow, but came back," head coach Delanya Thompson said. "The girls fought hard the whole game, but fell just short."
