Denzel W. "Tinker" Hamilton

Denzel W. "Tinker" Hamilton, age 73, of Warsaw, Mo., passed away Friday afternoon, Jan. 16, 2009, at his home. He was born in Stockton, Mo., on July 30, 1935, the son of Harlen and Laverne Hyder Hamilton.

He grew up in Stockton, Mo. On Oct. 11, 1953. he was united in marriage to Carol Sue Beeson. On Nov. 25, 1953, he was inducted into the United States Army. For two years he was stationed at Fort Riley, Kan., and Fort Knox, Ky. He was discharged on Nov. 25, 1955.

Following his discharge they made their home in Kansas City and later at Harrisonville, Mo. There he worked as a general contractor working on new homes, remodeling projects, and commercial construction jobs for many years. He retired in 1989 and they moved to their home near Warsaw.

He liked to fish the lakes and streams around Truman Lake and the Lake of the Ozarks, and he liked to play golf, almost every day he could. Every morning he could be found at the "coffee clutch" at Cow Patties Cafe, visiting with friends and neighbors to solve the problems of the world. And then he would be off to Shawnee Bend Municipal Golf Course for another round.

Tinker is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Sue, of the home; two daughters, Cindy Sianez, and her husband, John, of Raymore, Mo., and Kathy Hamilton, of St. Louis, Mo. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Jesse and Jordan Sianez, of Raymore, Michelle Bless, and her husband Jeff, Becky Cooper, and Elizabeth Cooper, all of St. Louis, Timothy Weatherly, of Greenwood, Mo., and Nicole Woods, and her husband Christopher, of Independence, Mo.; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Marcella Scism, of Nevada; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Debra Hamilton Morris, one sister, and two brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday afternoon, Jan. 29. at the River Church near Warsaw. Inurnment and burial of the ashes will be at the National Cemetery near Warsaw.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Benton County Hospice or the Benton County Cancer Fund.
