Three injured in Friday one-vehicle crash

Three Nevada residents were injured in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 71 Friday afternoon.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Randy A. Stevens, Nevada, told troopers he fell asleep at the wheel of the 2002 Ford Explorer in the northbound lanes of the highway, about seven-tenths of a mile south of Nevada.

The vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned. Stevens suffered serious injuries and was transported to Nevada Regional Medical Center.

Two passengers, Kathy M. White, 54, and Thomas M. White, 60, also of Nevada, both suffered moderate injuries and were transported to Nevada Regional Medical Center.

None of the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts.
