Hume Hornets defeat Ballard

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

The Hume Hornets basketball team earned their 10th consecutive win Friday night as they took on Ballard High School in a home contest.

The Hornets showed a strong performance on the night and were able to work their way to a 55-45 victory. A strong defensive presence on the floor allowed Hume to come up with nine steals in the game and the offense helped out the effort as well, committing just 11 turnovers in the winning effort.

Three Hornets finished the game in double figures, led by Cameron Hinton with 16 point. Ryan Austin wasn't far off that total with 13 of his own and Andy Yarick finished out the night with 11.

As a team, the Hornets shot very well in the game, sinking 51 percent of their field goals, but struggled from the free-throw line, making just nine of 22 shots.

With that victory, the Hornets raised their record to 18-5 on the season, 8-0 in conference play.
