The Nevada City Council will discuss how to proceed to hire a new city manager during the Council's regular meeting at 7 tonight in the Council Chambers in the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash St.

Other items on their agenda include a temporary liquor license for the Elk's Lodge for a block party on June 27 for members and guests on the east half of their parking lot.

The council will also be considering the first reading of an agreement with Snyder Construction Company, Joplin for the summer sales tax street construction projects; an ordinance transferring surplus city property to Habitat for Humanity of Nevada for construction of a new house and an ordinance amending the city's VoIP agreement with Vernon County.

They will also be considering Resolution No. 1258 to authorize the city to issue requests for qualifications for a consultant to prepare and update the city's comprehensive plan and Resolution No. 1259 to apply for a grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant to purchase a new pumper truck for the Fire Department.

Other issues include bids for automotive fuel and bulk fuel for 2009, and the appointment of Amyl Bishop and Shirley Ann Bastow to the park board.
