Nashville Bluegrass Band headlines Saturday Bushwhacker peformers

Friday, May 22, 2009

The Bushwhacker Entertainment Committee is pleased to announce finalized contracts on our opening act and main musical attraction for this year's Bushwhacker Days Festival.

During the day -- on Saturday, June 13 -- there will be fun for everyone. At 7 a.m., the Bushwhacker 5K Run put on by Nevada Parks and Recreation will start the day of festivities. Next, the Bushwhacker Baby Show and the Toddler Swimsuit Show will take place.

Shortly after that will be a Vernon County favorite: The 2009 Car Cruise-In Show. Saturday's events will also include a Lip Sync contest, horseshoe contest, Quilt Guild Show, water games, the Windriders Motorcycle Show, "Jaws of Life" demonstration, Jump 4 Kids, a bull ride, a moonwalk, a dunk tank run by the city of Nevada, and a climbing wall.

If that is not already enough excitement, there will be Border War Skirmishes, the ever-popular Bushwhacker Parade and last but not least there will be a wide array of booths with food and merchandise around the Square all day.

Following all of Saturday's fun-filled events, there is the evening's musical entertainment, the Nashville Bluegrass Band. With two Grammy Award winning albums and two Entertainer of the Year honors from the International Bluegrass Music Association, the Nashville Bluegrass Band is no stranger to fans and bluegrass musician's worldwide.

The Nashville Bluegrass Band celebrated their twentieth anniversary in 2004 with the release of its sixth Grammy--nominated album, Twenty Year Blues. Nashville Bluegrass Band was the first bluegrass band ever to be permitted play in the People's Republic of China. NBB concerts have spanned the globe, with performances in Egypt, Brazil, Crete, Bangladesh, Israel, Denmark, Germany, France, Ireland, Japan, Spain, England and many more.

Through the years, they have performed and toured with both traditional and contemporary artists such as Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Lyle Lovett. They have videos in heavy rotation on the CMT Network. In 2002, lead singer Pat Enright became one of the voices of the Soggy Bottom Boys, the fictional trio led onscreen by George Clooney in the movie O'Brother, Where Art Thou? The NBB fiddler Stuart Duncan was featured on the soundtrack through out the movie Cold Mountain. This is a band that stands comparison to the very best.

All entertainers, along with more information of events, and registration forms for booth space, the parade, and/or the lip sync contest can all be found on the Bushwhacker Website: www.bwdays.com.
