Nevada Auto Mall keeps Chrysler business
The Nevada Auto Mall has been in business for 15 years and is pleased to announce that the dealership's on firm ground with Chrysler and, overall, aims to continue to keep its family serving the families of Nevada and the surrounding area for years to come.
Although Chrysler has filed bankruptcy and is closing nearly 25 percent of its nationwide dealer network and numerous dealerships throughout Missouri they informed the Nevada Auto Mall by letter on May 14 that they will "play an increasingly important role in our company's rebirth to prosperity;" Chrysler products will still be a significant part of the mix of products offered by the locally-owned, family business.
Since news of the Chrysler plan hit newsstands, dealers all across the country have been wondering about the closings, so this is good news to the folks at the Nevada Auto Mall and Nevada. "We got one of the good kinds of letters," said owner Dan Hope Sr. With about a dozen and a half employees, a closing would have impacted numerous local families and our community. As it is, the economic downturn has affected the company somewhat -- but it could have been much worse.
Beginning several months ago, they had to let a few people go, but "we have been able to maintain 90 percent of our staff," said General Manager Dan Hope Jr. Things have been slow, but are beginning to pick back up again. During the slow times, "everyone's made sacrifices," Hope said, adding that now, more than ever, it's important for people to support local businesses -- whatever they are.
Citing the good, common sense nature of his local customer base and a media that has been a little more positive lately, Dan Sr. said, "we need the consumer confidence" that is beginning to be seen in the economy. He also said that even though the factories are totally shut down because of the bankruptcy process, things were starting to pick up a little bit.
The industry is trying to do its share to bolster that confidence by offering huge discounts and rebates.
Spring is usually the best time of the year to sell cars, so it is very unusual for the extra incentives to be offered at this time.
Several members of the Hope family work at the dealership, so it is truly a family business. As such it is part of the community and they try to give back by supporting as many causes as possible. "We don't concentrate in one area; we give a little bit to several instead of a lot to one," said Dan Jr.
The company plans to become more active in the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks and has plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from every oil change they perform in August to that organization.
The Nevada Auto Mall has been providing the residents of Vernon County with quality vehicles and award winning service for a long while and will continue to uphold that tradition. It's how they got where they are now. Dan Sr. said, "We've looked at steady growth since we got here and we'd like to continue that."
